    Getting a drink in Singapore

AN ALE WITH A STORY | If you like your drinks to come with a unique story, The 1925 Microbrewery & Restaurant is happy to oblige. Started by two brothers and their uncle, the name of the brewery is a tribute to their grandfather/father who was born in, you guessed it, 1925. This homage continues with its beers including the Blk 6.22 Dark Ale (half pint, $7), named after Block 622 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9, the patriarch's home where the whole family would gather. Stories aside, the beer actually does weigh in at 6.2 per cent abv, but you wouldn?t guess it. It?s sneakily smooth with slightly sweet, chocolatey flavours.

THE ORIGINAL PENICILLIN COCKTAIL | This iconic modern classic created by New York bartender Sam Ross in 2005 has been hailed as a ?cocktail cure-all" in the TIMES magazine. A heady concoction of Islay Scotch whisky, honey-ginger syrup, and fresh lemon juice, the drink is tangy, sweet and alluringly smoky all at once. There's been variations of the penicillin cocktail served in the bars here but the one at David Myer?s Adrift restaurant is perhaps the closest thing you'll ever get to the original recipe without leaving Singapore - since Ross flew in to consult on the drinks menu at Adrift when it opened at Marina Bay Sands early 2015. Did we also mention that we can?t seem to stop eating the candied ginger garnish?
